In the south of Serbia , 12 km away from Vranje, 5 km from the highway Belgrade – Skopje , and 3 km from the railroad line Belgrade - Niš - Skopje – Thessalonica, there is one of the oldest spas in Serbia , Vranjska Banja-Spa.
The Spa is surrounded by the slopes of the mountains of Besna kobila and Veliki Pešter covered with vegetation.
Vranjska Banja-Spa has a moderately continental climate. The climatic conditions are influenced by the mountains that surround this tourist resort.
Summers are very pleasant, with warm days and fresh nights. The heights covered with forests protect the Spa from strong and cold winds.
It served as a bath to the prehistoric people and, in the middle ages, it was a health resort.
Today, it is the spa with the hottest mineral water in Europe (96°C). At an altitude of 380 m and with the medicinal water, it has a beneficial effect on human body.
In the Spa, there is a widely renown sanatorium for rheumatic diseases: the Institute for Specialized Rehabilitation of Degenerative Rheumatism and Post-traumatic Conditions "INSTITUTE OF RHEUMATISM", or popular as STACIONAR (INPATIENT CLINIC). |
